Ana Thompson is a London based Colombian born multidisciplinary designer. She trained as a Industrial Designer in Bogota, Colombia and after gaining a variety of experience working in developing furniture, products and R&D projects for new technologies and materials at design studios in Bogota and London she decided to follow her passion for jewellery rooted in her appreciation of traditional goldsmith’s techniques from her native Colombian heritage.
Inspired by jewellery’s emotive qualities, energetic power and cultural significance, lead Ana to complete her MA Jewellery Design from the School of Art, Architecture and Design, London Metropolitan University.
During her masters she research and developed innovative ways to apply her industrial design background working with modern technologies to jewellery design.  She completed her MA on 2012 with distinction and final collection which blended design, science and technology as her core research developed in timeless pieces.
After she graduated she collaborated with microbiologist Dr Sean Speese using scientific research from real microscopic data to create mesmerising garment and statement jewellery which were exhibited at the world renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology - MIT-Media Lab.
Ana's distinctive approach combines her memories and observations from the exotic land of Colombia and her explorations of the macro-micro structures of the magical unseen world.
Her appreciation for jewellery to carry culture and meaning through the ages helped to clarify her design mission and became the catalyst for establishing her studio Ana Thompson Fine Jewellery.
Ana’s Fine Jewellery has been showcased at leading international fairs and has won two prestigious Goldsmiths' Craft and Design Council Awards.
